Can we define ourselves as a "human" being?

Crimes are increasing in our society. We wonder whom to blame for that. We blame our governments, we blame anti socials and we of course blame poverty and ill literacy of our society. Have we ever gave a thought in this matter? Before discussing further about this, we need to accept few facts regarding our present society. Our society is not that same society which it was 50 years before. We have changed a lot. our way of thinking have changed a lot and nowadays every child is born with a unique brain. All I mean to say that evolution of human race is very much responsible for this present state of our society.

Instead of talking about the whole society lets us talk about each individual person of the society. Every individual have some dreams, desire, temptation, love, affection and his/her way of thinking. Every individual also have family, friends and even enemies. The matter of the fact is that we are always busy chasing our dreams and desire. We are always busy in doing something that will push our life by one-step towards perfection and we are so busy in all these that in reality we forget the definition of "humanity". I am a student and as a student, studying is an only way, which will push my life towards perfection.

Let me now share something, last day I was on my way to give my final term examination of my school. On my way, I saw a blind kid who was trying to cross the busy street. I just could not help him because he was quite far from me. I was just staring at the boy when he was trying to cross the street and simultaneously at the back of my mind, I was memorizing my studies. Then a passerby told something to that boy and that boy opened his eyes. I realised that the young boy was not blind but he was just playing prank. This whole incident made my mind stir. I am confused about that incident. Would I have helped him out if the boy was really blind? This question is making me sick. I could not have helped him because I was already late for my school but if I would not have helped him out then that might cost him his life. Another question again striked my mind "Are we too busy in achieving dreams at the cost of anything?”. That incident might be simple but that showed me the dark side of my life.

Crimes are increasing and every day some are becoming its victim and some are becoming its suspect. Victims are suffering because their fate and misfortune brought them to that point and they are suffering more because suspects are too busy with their own personal life and its problem. Suspect tends to play the role of audience while victim suffers. In today's society, crime is nothing but a normal event, which involves gathering of people. When the "event" is over people leave the place and gets back to their own daily life. They do not have time to help police in investigation and we know very well that if we are speaking against some organised criminal gang then eventually they will come behind our family and friends and again a "event" might take place which will involve the gathering of “audience”.

However, if and only if a political force is speaking out against a particular crime then protest meeting will take place. Rallies will be conducted and the matter of fact is that those same "audience" might also take part in those protest rallies. Police and rapid action force will be deployed to control those protesters and to maintain peace but eventually there will a clash between these two groups and as a result, some police officers might lose their lives also. It is a no big deal. It is like a chain reaction. Still we blame others whereas the devil resides within us. Still we ask for justice whereas we never do justice to "humanity".
